Go Pink this October for Breast Cancer Now
Shades of pink are sweeping the nation once again this October, in support of the fantastic Breast Cancer Now’s ‘wear it pink’ campaign. Our ducks are joining in with the rose-coloured action to raise money for this special cause and want you to as well – read on to find out how.
What is the wear it pink campaign?
First organised in 2002, wear it pink takes place every year on 19th October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The idea is as simple as the name suggests: everyone is invited to add a splash of pink to their outfit to show support for those with breast cancer, those with loved ones fighting it, and survivors.
There are lots more ways to join in with the fundraising fun too; Breast Cancer Now have sweepstakes and quizzes available, you can organise cake sales, fancy dress competitions, whatever you like to raise vital funds for the UK’s largest breast cancer charity.
Go Pink with DCUK
So, where do our ducks fit in to all this?
Never ones to miss out on the opportunity to dress up and spread awareness for a great cause, a selection of our ducks have donned a pink breast cancer awareness ribbon and can be found in our charity collection. Purchase any of these and we’ll donate £4 to Breast Cancer Now from every sale, to help their life-changing work continue. Pick from one kitted out in a cute hat and boots or without; either way, you can welcome someone new to your DCUK family and support this very worthy cause in one go.
While they’re not part of the charity collection, we couldn’t have a pink-themed post and not mention that some new flamingos have landed at DCUK! Meet Mr & Mrs Flamboyant Flamingo, the perfectly pink couple who are now available to shop and totally adorable.
Will you go pink for October, either by buying one of our ducks or taking part in other fundraising events? We want to hear all about it! Get in touch on our Facebook page or tweet us to share your wear it pink plans.
