Behind The Scenes at DCUK HQ
Behind The Scenes at DCUK HQ
Most of you will know DCUK as the company who create fun and characterful hand carved and painted feathered friends, but very few of you will know what happens behind the scenes. As we are all one big family, we thought it only right to fill you in on the things you’ve been dying to find out about your ducks from behind the scenes! From initial brainstorm ideas to the final packing up of your products, the heart and soul of our business is based in Diptford in Devon. It’s here that your new friends really start to come to life. Follow your little ducky’s journey from choosing your favourite to a parcel arriving on your doorstep.
The adventure begins…
So, where does it all start? Our talented team of crafts people in Indonesia careful transport over large containers of beautifully hand carved bamboo beauties to our warehouse here in Diptford where their transformation begins. We get all our ‘ducks in a row’ in our warehouse where they are counted and checked by our packing team – very lovingly of course!
Characters are born
Alice and the packing team print off all the orders made from the day before. We know no one likes waiting a long time for their new DCUK goodies, so we aim to get all our orders posted and sent out to you as soon as we can. Once we have received all the orders, we decipher all the personalisation you have chosen for your new friend, a favourite step among our team. Whether it be a ribbon, writing on the back, name tags or gift boxes, we take the greatest care in making each and every feathered friend just as the customer has requested. It’s also when we do the most important step: giving them a name! (if you haven’t already picked one)
“Just wanted to say thank you for the excellent service from DCUK! Once again a very prompt delivery and 1st class customer service, a pleasure to deal with you ”
Boxed and ready to go
Your duckys now have a personality and are ready to take the next step in their journey, coming to meet you! Their fate has been sealed and their address labels have been printed, all that’s left to do is for them to be carefully boxed up and await the arrival of the Royal Mail van.
“Well that’s what I call service! Placed order on Monday 11th June – it had a personalised ribbon on it so knew I was unlikely to get it for my friends birthday that weekend but put a note on it saying ‘Birthday present – needed ASAP’ and lo and behold I got it on Wed 13th June. So so impressed with both the product and the customer service…. 5* all round!”
Flying the nest
Once the boxes are collected by Royal Mail, your new ducks, owls, penguins, chickens and flamingos are on their way to you and their new homes, leaving us to welcome a whole new batch of friends into our warehouse. Although parting with our very special friends can be hard, it’s lovely to see them making new friends and family and you all enjoying them as much as we hoped. After all, we are one big duck loving family.
“Wow! What a service. Our order arrived first thing this morning. We needed it for a special birthday and thought we had left it too late. Once again many thanks ”
What happens next?
We hope our duckys settle in well with their new owners and enjoy their new surroundings, we’re sure they’ll make sure you continue to add to your collection – much like we keep adding to ours. We’re always thinking of new and innovative designs that we think you will love. Do you have ideas for designs you would love to see next, or would you love to share images of your duckys with us? Then head over to our Facebook page and send us some snaps of them enjoying the sunshine. Alternatively, there is always the option to head over to our website and see what we have in stock. After all, who can turn down a DCUK gift or two?
We hope you’re all having a great summer,
Love, the DCUK team
